The International Competition "Russian Paralympic Committee Athletics Cup" has ended in Krasnodar

From September 28 to October 3, the International Competition "Russian Paralympic Committee Athletics Cup" was held in Krasnodar at the "Dynamo" Stadium named after Olympic champion Lyudmila Ivanovna Bragina.

The Cup was organized by the Russian Paralympic Committee together with the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation with the support of the Russian Sports Fund. It is included in the calendar of the International Paralympic Committee and serves as a qualifying stage for the 2027 World Para Athletics Championships, where quotas for participation in the 2028 Summer Paralympic Games in Los Angeles will be contested.

More than 200 athletes with physical impairments, visual impairments, and intellectual impairments from 11 countries participated in the tournament: the Republic of South Africa, India, Indonesia, Cameroon, Kenya, Colombia, Mexico, Nigeria, Tunisia, Rwanda, and Russia.

The foreign teams included Paralympic medalists, world and continental champions, and winners of international competitions. The Russian team was represented by the country's strongest track and field athletes – Honored Masters of Sports and Paralympic champions. Among the competition participants were also veterans of the special military operation who have achieved high success in sports – becoming winners and medalists of Russian championships, national Cups, and All-Russian tournaments.

The athletes competed for about 100 sets of medals in running and technical disciplines: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, and 5000 meter races, relays, long jump and high jump, shot put, and discus, javelin, and club throw.

During the competitions, 1 world record and 3 European records were set. Kirill Glazyrin became a world and European record holder in the 100 meters in the T36 class. European records were updated by Aslan Gazzaev in the shot put in the F34 class and Avrora Aymasheva in the discus throw in the F57 class.

During the ceremonial closing ceremony of the competitions, the participants were addressed by President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, Honored Coach of Russia Pavel Rozhkov, technical delegate of the competitions from the International Paralympic Committee, Director General of the Asian Paralympic Committee Tarek Souai, Chairman of the regional branch of the PCR, Director of the regional center for sports training in adaptive sports of Krasnodar Krai Gennady Litvinov, and six-time Paralympic champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Sergey Shilov, who declared the competitions closed.

As part of the ceremony, winners and medalists of the final competition day were awarded. The ceremony was also attended by Vice-President of the PCR, President of the All-Russian Federation of Sports for the Blind, three-time Paralympic champion Olga Semenova, senior coach of the Russian national team in athletics for athletes with physical impairments, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Olga Antonova, Director General of the Physical Culture and Health Complex "Dynamo" named after Olympic champion L.I. Bragina German Smirnov, Olympic athletics champion Lyudmila Bragina, and others.

The creative ensemble "Rodnya" performed a program for the participants and spectators.
