The Russian Paralympic Committee congratulates the athletes and coaches on their well-deserved awards and wishes them further success in upcoming competitions!

Paratriathlon made its debut in the program of the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Paratriathlon consists of three disciplines: a 750m swim, followed by a 20km cycling race, and a 5km run. Athletes with physical impairments are divided into 5 classes based on the severity of their impairment — wheelchair (PTWC class), standing (PTS2, PTS3, PTS4, PTS5 classes), while athletes with visual impairments compete in the PTVI class. In the cycling segment, athletes may use a handbike (wheelchair category) or a bicycle (standing category). Additionally, during the running segment of the paratriathlon, wheelchair athletes compete in racing chairs, while standing athletes use prosthetics if necessary. Athletes with visual impairments compete alongside a guide athlete.
