Russian Paralympic team wins 12 medals at Para Swimming World Series event in France
From April 27 to May 4, the Para Swimming World Series France 2026 took place in Paris, France.
The tournament featured 194 athletes from 39 countries.
Following the competition, the Russian team won 12 medals: 3 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze.
Daria Lukyanenko won gold in the 100m breaststroke (SB11 class).
Vitaly Tsybryuk became the winner in the 50m freestyle (S13 class) and bronze medalist in the 100m butterfly (S13 class).
Zoya Shchurova won 2 silver medals – in the 150m individual medley (SM4 class) and in the 50m breaststroke (SB3 class).
Timofey Guk became silver medalist in the 100m breaststroke (SB12 class).
Vladimir Sotnikov won silver in the 100m butterfly (S12 class).
Daria Mayborodina became bronze medalist in the 50m freestyle (S9 class).
Among juniors, Emil Salemgareev became the winner in the 100m freestyle (S10 class), and also won 3 silver medals – in the 100m breaststroke (SB9 class), 100m backstroke (S10 class), and 200m individual medley (SM10 class).

Swimming is one of the first sports disciplines in Paralympic sport, having been included in the competition program of the 1st Summer Paralympic Games in 1960 in Rome, Italy. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Swimming is one of the most medal-rich sports at the Paralympic Games. It includes men and women with physical impairments, visual impairments, and intellectual impairments. At the Paralympic Games, athletes compete in a 50-meter pool on 8 lanes according to FINA standards. At the 17th Summer Paralympic Games in Paris, France, Russian athletes won 34 medals: 10 gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze.
