Russian Paralympic Team Competes in World Series Swimming Event in France

From April 27 to May 4, the stage of the World Series swimming competition – Para Swimming World Series France 2026 – is taking place in Paris, France.

The competition days are May 1–3.

The Russian Paralympic team will compete for medals. The team includes 10 athletes – 4 athletes with physical impairments (PI) and 6 athletes with visual impairments (VI): Timofey Guk (Saint Petersburg, class S12), Anna Krivshina (Moscow, class S13), Yegor Kuzmin (Udmurt Republic, class S12), Daria Lukyanenko (Rostov Region, class S11), Daria Mayborodina (Moscow Region, class S9), Emil Salemgareev (Republic of Bashkortostan, class S10), Zoya Shchurova (Moscow, class S3), Vladimir Sotnikov (Moscow, class S13), Andrey Trofimenko (Moscow, class S7), Vitaly Tsybryuk (Republic of Bashkortostan, class S13).

Swimming was one of the first sports disciplines in Paralympic sport to be included in the competition program at the 1st Summer Paralympic Games in 1960 in Rome, Italy. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Swimming is one of the most medal-rich sports at the Paralympic Games. It features men and women with PI, VI, and intellectual disabilities. At the Paralympic Games, athletes compete in a 50-meter pool with 8 lanes conforming to International Swimming Federation (FINA) standards. At the 17th Summer Paralympic Games in Paris (France), Russian athletes won 34 medals: 10 gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze.
