Russian Paralympic Committee Holds Training Camp for Para Athletics (Physical Impairments) for SVO Veterans in Sochi
From August 14 to 23, at the federal sports base of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation "Yug Sport" in Sochi, the Russian Paralympic Committee is holding a training and preparatory event in para athletics for athletes with physical impairments, intended for veterans of the special military operation who sustained severe injuries and disabilities while carrying out combat missions.
The event involves 19 athletes who demonstrated high sporting results at the first All-Russian Para Athletics Competition for athletes with physical impairments among veterans of the special military operation, which the RPC held in July in Cheboksary. Among the participants are champions of the 2026 Russian Championships and SVO veterans Vladislav Losev and Vadim Shamsitdinov, as well as members of the Russian national para athletics team for athletes with physical impairments – Sabir Abdulagayev, Andrey Shevchenko, Mikhail Batov, and Ali Khalilov.
The training camp is being conducted under the guidance of Oleg Kostyuchenko, Honored Coach of Russia and coach of the Russian national team, who long served as head coach of the national squad. Serving as mentors in the training event are 4-time Paralympic champion Alexey Ashapatov, European champion Pyotr Mikhalkov, and Honored Coaches of Russia and national team coaches Alexey Mikhalkin and Boris Koroev.
The training and preparatory event is being held with the support of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation and the Russian Sports Fund.
An open training session for the team will take place on August 22 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
