Russian para-rowers Anton Voronov and Anna Piskunova won bronze medals at the European Rowing Championships.

From July 28 to August 3, the European Rowing Championships for athletes with physical impairments took place in Varese (Italy).

Following the competition, Russian para-rowers Anton Voronov (Lipetsk Region) and Anna Piskunova (Lipetsk Region) won a bronze medal in the 2000-meter distance in the PR3 Mix2x class with a time of 7 minutes 22.6 seconds. Valentin Luz and Kathrin Marchand from Germany took first place on the podium with a time of 6 minutes 55.91 seconds, while Ukrainian para-rowers Stanislav Samoliuk and Dariia Kotyk claimed second place with a time of 7 minutes 6.07 seconds.

Almaz Sharafiev (Republic of Tatarstan) finished eighth in the PR1 M1x class with a time of 10 minutes 36.56 seconds.

The Russian Paralympic Committee congratulates the athletes and coaches on their well-deserved award and wishes them success in future competitions!

Rowing for athletes with physical impairments was first included in the program of the XIII Summer Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2008. Both men and women compete. Races are held in 4 boat classes over a distance of 2000 meters. Para-rowing boats – men's or women's singles – may be equipped with special buoys that act as stabilizers to ensure balance.
