Russian national team wins international wheelchair basketball tournament in Moscow Region

From September 3 to 7, the Russian Paralympic Committee, with the support of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation and the Russian Sports Fund, held an international wheelchair basketball tournament in the Moscow Region.

Four national teams took part in the competition — Russia, Belarus, Armenia, and Serbia.

According to the tournament results, the Russian national team claimed victory. In the final match, the Russian basketball players defeated the Serbian team with a score of 90:51. The bronze medalists were the representatives of Armenia, who beat the Belarusian team 53:48 in the third-place match.

Following the tournament, the symbolic All-Star Five of the best players was determined. The lineup included Vladimir Malyshkin (Belarus), Samvel Asatryan (Armenia), Vlado Švraka (Serbia), Filip Jovanović (Serbia), and captain of the Russian national team Ruslan Kozhevnikov. The tournament's Most Valuable Player was Russian athlete Alexander Gromkov. The top scorer was Dmitry Sitnikov (Russia).

The award ceremony was attended by President of the Russian Paralympic Committee and Honored Coach of Russia Pavel Rozhkov, Director General of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency "RUSADA" Veronika Loginova, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the trading house "Arens" Konstantin Vyrupaev, and Director General of the trading house "Arens" Adil Mansur Arain.

The international tournament was the first wheelchair basketball competition organized by the Russian Paralympic Committee. Its holding allowed the Russian national team to once again gain international competitive experience and face foreign teams after a five-year hiatus.
