Russian National Team — Winner of the Overall Team Standings at the European Para Swimming Championships
From September 7 to 12, the European Swimming Championships under the auspices of the International Paralympic Committee was held in the city of Kocaeli (Turkey).
Based on the results of their performance at the European Championships, the Russian national team won 92 medals: 33 gold, 39 silver, and 20 bronze, and became the winner of the overall team standings.
During the championships, Russian swimmers set 4 world records and 5 European records:
Konstantin Burmistrov set world and European records in the 100 meter butterfly in class S12 and in the 200 meter individual medley in class SM13 with a world record in class SM12.
Vladimir Sotnikov set a world and European record in the 100 meter backstroke in class S12.
Kirill Alexandrov became the author of a world record and European record in the 100 meter breaststroke in class SB5.
Varvara Knyazeva set a European record in the 100 meter backstroke in class S11.
The largest number of medals were won by Konstantin Burmistrov (4 gold, 1 silver), Mira Larionova (3 gold, 4 silver), Viktoriia Ishchiulova (3 gold, 2 silver), Galina Fedurina (3 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), and Vladimir Sotnikov (2 gold, 3 silver).
On September 12, on the final sixth competition day, the Russian national team won 14 medals: 5 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze.
European champions were Varvara Knyazeva in the 100 meter backstroke in class S11, Bogdan Mozgovoy in the 100 meter backstroke in class S9, Egor Shchitkovsky in the 400 meter freestyle in class S13, Viktoriia Ishchiulova in the 200 meter individual medley in class SM8, and Konstantin Burmistrov in the 100 meter freestyle in class S12.
Silver medalists were Evgeny Lazutin in the 400 meter freestyle in class S13, Vladimir Sotnikov in the 100 meter freestyle in class S12, Kirill Pulver in the 200 meter freestyle in class S5, Valeriia Shabalina in the 100 meter butterfly in class S14, and Anna Krivshina in the 100 meter freestyle in class S12.
Bronze medals were won by Anastasia Shevchenko in the 100 meter backstroke in class S11, Sofia Mezhinskaya in the 400 meter freestyle in class S13, and Elizaveta Sidorenko in the 100 meter freestyle in class S10.
In the mixed 4×100 meter freestyle relay, the Russian team (Denis Tarasov, Andrey Nikolaev, Elena Klyachkina, and Maria Pavlova) took third place.

The Russian national team competed at the European Championships with the national flag, anthem, and equipment bearing state symbols. The Russian delegation included 65 athletes: 38 representatives of sports for persons with physical impairments, 18 of sports for the blind, and 9 of sports for persons with intellectual impairments.
The team includes: 7-time Paralympic champion Andrey Kalina; 5-time Paralympic champions Roman Zhdanov and Valeriia Shabalina; 3-time Paralympic champion Daria Lukianenko; 2-time Paralympic champions Bogdan Mozgovoy, Andrey Nikolaev, Maria Pavlova, Denis Tarasov, Dmitry Chernyaev; Paralympic champions Andrey Granichka, Dmitry Grigoriev, Viktoriia Ishchiulova, Anna Krivshina, Daniil Smirnov, Vladimir Sotnikov, as well as Paralympic medalists, world and European champions.
