WORLD PARA POWERLIFTING LAUNCHES ITS FIRST ONLINE COMPETITION “RAISE THE BAR TOGETHER”
World Para Powerlifting is launching its first online competition “Raise the Bar Together”.
“Raise the Bar Together” will be held from April 3-17.
The online competition is held to support athletes who continue to train and stay home during the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
“Considering the uncertainty surrounding the COVID – 19 outbreak, this groundbreaking competition provides motivation for all athletes and their safety at home” - said Egyptian athlete Sheriff Osman, three-time Paralympic champion.
More information on competitions and rules is available at https://www.paralympic.org/powerlifting/events
Note that the competition is unofficial and does not provide an opportunity to improve your rating for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games or any other WPPO competition or provide an opportunity to achieve a minimum qualification standard.
Instead of an entry fee, World Para Powerlifting encourages participants, if they have the means, to make a small contribution to local clubs or humanitarian organizations to help offset the costs and expenses of these organizations during a pandemic.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Powerlifting World Cups in Bogota (Colombia) and Dubai (UAE), scheduled for March and April, respectively, were canceled.
Thailand World Cup, due to be held during the 2020 IWAS World Games, rescheduled for December.
