14 February 2021

On the eve of the start of the XVI Paralympic Summer Games in Tokyo (Japan), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), in cooperation with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), launched a new educational course "ADEL for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics" ("Anti-Doping online Course for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games") as part of WADA's ongoing work to implement the International Standard for Education.

The "Anti-Doping Online Course for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games" is designed specifically for athletes, coaches and other personnel participating in this year's Paralympic Games.

As part of the course, participants will gain an understanding of the anti-doping rules, procedures and requirements for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, including drug testing and submitting a request for Therapeutic Use (TI), providing information about the location and explaining the rights and obligations of athletes during anti-doping testing, etc.

The "Online Anti-Doping Course for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games" is available on the WADA ADEL platform (https://adel.wada-ama.org/learn).

Before enrolling and completing the course, users will need to register with ADEL. The course is also available in the ADEL mobile app, where courses can be downloaded and completed later in offline mode. In addition, the course is adapted for visually impaired athletes and can be completed using screen readers.

The course duration is 30-45 minutes. The Tokyo 2020 course is currently available in English, and will soon be available in French, Spanish, and other languages.

The RPC recommends that athletes, coaches and accompanying personnel of athletes preparing to participate in the XVI Paralympic Summer Games take part in the "Anti-Doping Online Course for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games".
