VARVARA VORONCHIKHINA WON THE OVERALL STANDINGS OF THE IPC WORLD CUP IN ALPINE SKIING

The final stage of the IPC World Cup in Alpine skiing finished in Åre (Sweden) from 27 to 30 January.

There were 3 stages of the World Cup in the current sports season.

Stage I was held from 7 to 10 December in Austria, and then took place in Switzerland, from 17 to 21 December.

At the end of 3 stages Varvara Voronchikhina won the overall standings of the World Cup ahead of 8-time Paralympic champion Maria Bosche, who took the second place.

Among the men in the standing category Alexey Bugayev took the second place, giving up less than 100 points to the Frenchman Arthur Bouchet.

In total on the account of 3 stages the Russian national team got 1 gold, 10 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Two sets of medals were won at the final stage of the World Cup. The Russian national team won 1 gold and 3 silver medals.

Alexey Bugaev (Moscow/Sakhalin Region) became the champion in the giant slalom and the silver medalist in the super-G.

Varvara Voronchikhina (Moscow/ Irkutsk Region) won two silver medals in these disciplines.
