THE ST. PETERSBURG TEAM WON THE MEDAL STANDINGS AT THE RUSSIAN WHEELCHAIR DANCING CHAMPIONSHIP

On May 6-8 in St. Petersburg the Russian Wheelchair Dancing Championship was held.

There were a record number of participants of the tournament: more than 200 athletes from 17 regions of the country competed on the dance floor.

During three days there were competitions in all the disciplines: pairs of couples competed in the European, Latin American and free programs, duets vied for the awards in the European and Latin American programs, there were competitions in general and free programs for men and women in the single discipline.

Athletes have played out 16 sets of medals, the leader in the medal count by official disciplines was the St. Petersburg team, athletes from the northern capital won 15 medals, of which 7 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze, second place was taken by the team of the Perm region - 3 gold medals, 2 - silver and 1 bronze, the third was completed by Sevastopol, winning 3 gold medals.

Outside the official competition program included junior competition in general and free program, and competition in the free program for duets, as well as competitions in the group of children from 7 to 12 years in general and free programs.

The Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexander Belsky and the senior coach of the Russian national wheelchair dancing team, Honored Coach of Russia Elena Lozko, Chairman of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports Anton Shantyr, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Social Policy Elena Fidrikova, Chairman of the regional department of the Russian Paralympic Committee in St. Petersburg Sergey Gutnico participated in the official opening ceremony.
