THE ALL-RUSSIAN FEDERATION OF SPORTS FOR PERSONS WITH PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS AND THE RUSSIAN RUGBY FEDERATION SIGNED AN AGREEMENT ON INTERACTION AND COOPERATION

29 April 2022
All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments and the Russian Rugby Federation concluded an agreement on cooperation and collaboration

On April 29 the document was signed by the RRF President Igor Artemyev and the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments President Andrey Strokin.

"We are developing the sport of people with physical disabilities, which includes 31 disciplines, including wheelchair rugby," - said Andrey Strokin. "The conclusion of the cooperation agreement opens up opportunities for our Paralympic rugby team to represent our country at the Paralympics. In recent years the level of the team has increased significantly. We were able to move from Group C of the European Championship to Group B and then to Group A. This year we took part in the European Championship and managed to take the sixth place. That allowed us to keep our position at the European Championship, creating a good reserve for the future. We hope for a long and fruitful cooperation," concluded Andrey Strokin.

"I want to draw the attention of our regional federations and clubs. In the near future we will prepare a plan, which will be presented to the Board. We have to establish work on the development of wheelchair rugby not only in our capitals, but also in other regions of the country. Now wheelchair rugby is cultivated in Moscow, Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Kemerovo Region, Tatarstan. We will work out a plan that means that all our federations, all existing rugby academies, all clubs will have to render all possible assistance in the development of wheelchair rugby. I think that we will take this issue to the next meeting of the Supreme Board. By the end of May we should have completed this work. We should have been together for a long time and should be a united front," said Igor Artemyev.
