TASS: THE RPC GOVERNING BOARD HAS APPROVED THE DELEGATION'S COMPOSITION FOR THE GAMES IN BEIJING
MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. The Governing Board of Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) has approved the composition of the Russian delegation which will take part in the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing. Pavel Rozhkov, acting president of the RPC and head of the Russian delegation at the Paralympics in Beijing, told TASS.
"The composition has been approved, 71 athletes from 20 subjects of our country are included in the RPC delegation to the Games in Beijing. There will be 33 athletes in nordic skiing skiing and biathlon. 10 people will take part in alpine skiing competitions, and 6 - in snowboard. There are 17 athletes in sledge hockey and 5 in wheelchair curling. The greatest representation of athletes from Moscow - 20 people. 15 people from the Moscow region, seven from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District and five from the Tyumen region," Rozhkov said.
"Eight Paralympic champions - in nordic skiing, biathlon and alpine skiing, 28 honored masters of sports of Russia, 11 masters of sports of international class, 9 masters of sports of Russia will perform at the Games in Beijing. We will take part in all the sports included in the program of the Games and in 61 medal events out of 78", - added Rozhkov.
