TASS: THE IOC EXECUTIVE BOARD DECIDED NOT TO LIFT SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIA AT ITS ORDINARY MEETING.

06 December 2022
MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board did not cancel the recommendations to impose sanctions on Russia and Belarussia at its ordinary meeting. IOC spokesman Mark Adams told a press conference on Monday.

"The position has not changed, the protective measures, which have been in force since February, remain in force. It would be wrong to go into detail now. As IOC President Thomas Bach said earlier, now is not the time to lift sanctions against Russia and Belarus," Adams said.

On February 28th the International Olympic Committee recommended international sports federations not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions because of the situation in Ukraine. After the suspension of athletes from European competitions, many Russian sports federations thought about participation in Asian tournaments.
