TASS: RUSSIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE PREPARES A PROPOSAL ON ALTERNATIVE ANTHEM OPTIONS
MOSCOW, March 13. / TASS /. The Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) will send to the International Paralympic Committee alternative versions of the national anthem for the Tokyo Games. This was announced to TASS by the first vice-president of the RPC, the head of the Russian delegation at the Tokyo Games Pavel Rozhkov.
In connection with the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Russian teams at the World Championships and the Olympic and Paralympic Games will play without the state symbols of the country until mid-December 2022. In January, a commission of athletes of the Russian Olympic Committee proposed to use the song "Katyusha" instead of the national anthem at the Games. On Friday, Inside the Games reported that CAS had rejected the offer.
"We in the Russian Paralympic Committee are not discussing why and how this was done," said Rozhkov. "We are currently preparing a proposal for other alternative options, which we will send to the International Paralympic Committee."
Paralympic Games in Tokyo will be held from August 24 to September 5.
