TASS: Rozhkov – Russian team at 2028 Paralympics to be represented by about 200 athletes

Special attention must be paid to training events ahead of the Games, according to the head of the Russian Paralympic Committee.

MOSCOW, August 31. /TASS/. Russia's national team at the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles may be represented by approximately 200 athletes, with the total delegation possibly exceeding 300 people. This was reported to TASS by Pavel Rozhkov, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee.

Rozhkov noted that Russian athletes will be able to compete in nearly all 23 disciplines, with the exception of team sports: wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, wheelchair rugby, and boccia.

"For the team to perform successfully at the Games, it is already necessary to thoroughly address a number of organizational issues," Rozhkov emphasized. "These include visa support for all delegation members, timely accreditation, transport logistics, accommodation in the Paralympic Village, which will be located on the University of California campus, arranging proper meals, scheduling training sessions in the United States, as well as medical support and undergoing anti-doping control procedures."

According to the head of the Russian Paralympic Committee, special attention must be paid to pre-Paralympic training events, as well as to considerations regarding acclimatization and time zone differences. "We must incorporate all these nuances into the preparation plan so that our athletes can focus on the main goal — achieving high results — rather than wasting energy on everyday difficulties and battling climatic conditions," Rozhkov concluded.
