TASS: ROZHKOV - RUSSIAN PARALYMPIANS HAVE ADAPTED TO ADDITIONAL DOPING TESTING

12 January 2022
MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. Russian Paralympians are used to additional doping testing before the Games in Beijing, but it is important that each of them until February 18 to give two samples. Pavel Rozhkov, acting president of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) and chief of the mission of the Russian delegation at the Winter Games, told TASS in an interview.

"Everyone participates in the qualifications, in the selections in a planned manner. The maximum that causes inconvenience is passing a separate additional doping control. But everyone is so used to it, and athletes do not distinguish between extra and scheduled," said Rozhkov.

Rozhkov said: "It's the main concern of the Russian Paralympic Committee and sports federations, to make sure that every athlete submits two samples by February 18. - It is important not to miss it, otherwise athletes may not be allowed to participate in the Paralympic Games. All members of the extended list are registered in the World Anti-Doping Agency's ADAMS system. Athletes in ADAMS must clearly indicate their location so that if a doping officer arrives, they will not be penalized for failing a doping test."

The line-up for the Paralympic Games will be approved by the RPC Executive Committee up to February 18. The main part of the delegation will arrive to Beijing on February 25. It is planned that the Russian team will consist of up to 75 athletes, and the total number of the delegation will be 190 people. The Paralympic Games will be held in Beijing from 4 to 13 March.
