TASS: ROZHKOV - RPC ASKED THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE OF THE BEIJING 2022 GAMES TO EXEMPT UNDERAGE ATHLETES FROM VACCINATIONS

MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. The Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) has asked the organizing committee of the Beijing Paralympic Games to grant a medical exemption for mandatory vaccination against coronavirus infection to six Russian junior athletes. This was announced in an interview with TASS by Pavel Rozhkov, acting president of the RPC and head of the Russian delegation to the Winter Games.

The RPC Governing Board of the Russian Paralympic Committee will approve its list of athletes by February 18. It is planned that the team will be represented by 75 athletes.

"The situation with minors is still not clear - we have six such guys. On December 28, 2021, we received a letter from the FMBA [Federal Medical and Biological Agency] stating that as of this date the vaccine for minors is still being registered with the Russian Ministry of Health," said Rozhkov. - "We have already applied to the organizing committee of the Beijing Games for a medical exemption for six underage athletes to participate in the Games without vaccination and quarantine.

The Paralympic Games will be held in Beijing on March 4-13.
