TASS: ROZHKOV: PARA SWIMMERS EXCEEDED THE WORLD RECORDS THREE TIMES AT THE OPEN CUP IN BELARUS

MOSCOW, July 10. /TASS/. Paralympic swimmers have shown impressive results at the Open Cup of the Republic of Belarus, which ended in Brest, exceeding world records three times. Pavel Rozhkov, president of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC), told TASS on Sunday.
"Paralympic athletes showed impressive results at the Open Cup of the Republic of Belarus. During the competition the judges recorded three exceeded world records and 19 exceeded Russian records. This shows the progress of the athletes and the growth of their skills. I should point out that we had better results than at the recent World Para Swimming Championships in Portugal, where we were excluded," said Rozhkov.
"Among the athletes I would like to mention Roman Zhdanov, who swam faster than his own record in the 50-meter breaststroke, which was set at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The records were also broken in the two 4x100m relay races by Bogdan Mozgovoy, Andrey Kalina, Victoria Ishiulova, Daria Mayborodina and Anastasia Shevchenko, Artur Sayfutdinov, Yegor Shchitkovsky and Daria Pikalova. Igor Boki, 16-time champion of the Paralympic Games, Egor Schelkanov, a medalist of the Tokyo Paralympic Games and Anastasia Zudilova, multiple prize-winner of World and European championships showed impressive results among the Belarusian team," Rozhkov said.
Also the RPC President told about the cooperation with Belarus in the sphere of adaptive sports. "Within the framework of the competitions we signed the agreement on cooperation between Paralympic Committees of Russia and Belarus and visited the sport facilities and infrastructure. The Republic of Belarus is a great place for various sport events. I am sure that our countries will continue the cooperation in the sphere of adaptive sport. In 2022 we are planning to have more than 30 sports events in which athletes from both countries will take part," Rozhkov added.
