12 January 2022
MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. Sochi Paralympic silver medalist Dmitry Lisov will again captain the Russian sledge hockey team at the Beijing Games. About it in the interview to TASS told the Acting President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, the chief of the mission of the Russian delegation at the Winter Games Pavel Rozhkov.

The Russian sledge hockey team became the silver medalist of the 2014 Paralympic Games in Sochi. In the final of the tournament, the team lost 0-1 to the U.S. team.

"Yes, Lisov will be the captain, he has been the captain of our team since 2018," said Rozhkov. - Dima is now fully focused on work, on preparation."

"From 2016 to 2018 Russian athletes were suspended from international competitions," continued Rozhkov. - We (the Russian sledge hockey team - TASS comment) were supposed to start in Group C, but the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) put us in Group B. In 2019 at that championship we scored more than 70 pucks and missed one. In this year's Group A championship, we fought the U.S. and Canada and ended up third. We will also fight with them in Beijing - they are our main rivals. But the Chinese, Koreans and Czechs will also try to get into the top three.
