TASS: Boris Ivanyuzhenkov resigned as Chairman of the Council of the Russian federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairment
Moscow, 26 March 2021 /TASS/: State Duma Deputy Boris Ivanyuzhenkov resigned as Chairman of the Council of the Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairment. Pavel Rozhkov, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Russian Paralympic Committee, RPC First Vice-President, told TASS about this.
Boris Ivanyuzhenkov held this position since 2006, his duties were transferred to Andrei Strokin, five-time Paralympic champion, President of the Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairment.
Pavel Rozhkov: "Today, at a meeting of the Council of the Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairment, a personal statement by Boris Ivanyuzhenkov on the resignation of his powers as Chairman of the Council was adopted and satisfied"
Ivanyuzhenkov resigned in connection with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctions, which came into force by the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which prohibit Russian government officials from holding leadership positions in sports federations.
"Also, the Chairwoman of the Stavropol regional public organization, the Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairment, State Duma deputy Elena Bondarenko, resigned," Pavel Rozhkov added.
The Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairment develops 31 sports, 23 of them are Paralympic, and has regional offices in almost all constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
