MOSCOW, July 28. /TASS/. Athletes from more than 20 countries will take part in the Summer Games of Para Athletes "We are together. Sport" in Sochi in October. Pavel Rozhkov, president of the Russian Paralympic Committee, told journalists on Thursday.
"Given the current situation and the suspension of our national teams from tournaments, the Russian Paralympic Committee has planned about 30 competitions with the participation of athletes from friendly countries for this year. About ten competitions in athletics, swimming and fencing were held in Ufa, Cheboksary and Khanty-Mansiysk," Rozhkov said. - In addition, our guys actively travel to Belarus, and our whole star team, which was at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, recently returned from the Open Cup of Belarus in para swimming. The performance there broke three world records and 19 Russian records."
"In the near future we have a number of competitions planned, including Sochi. Over 1,500 people will compete there, and representatives of about 20 countries have confirmed their participation. We'll use the best facilities in Sochi, which were inherited from the Paralympic Games and Ministry of Sport," - he added.
Summer Games of Para Athletes "We are together. Sport" will be held in Sochi on October 2-9. The Winter Games of Para Athletes were held in Khanty-Mansiysk on March 18-21.
