RUSSIAN NATIONAL PARA SWIMMING TEAM, HEADED BY THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE RPC, FIVE-TIME PARALYMPIC CHAMPION ANDREY STROKIN, ARRIVED IN BREST TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OPEN CUP OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

From July 5 to July 10, the Palace of Aquatics of the Republic of Belarus will host the Open Cup of the Republic of Belarus in para swimming in Brest (Republic of Belarus).

Athletes with physicall and visual impairments will take part in the competitions.

Russia will be represented by 94 athletes (65 - PI athletes, 29 - VI). Andrey Strokin, the Secretary General of the Russian Paralympic Committee and 5-time champion of the Paralympic Games is at the head of the delegation.

The national team consists of the strongest Russian swimmers.

Three times champions of 2020 Paralympic Games Roman Zhdanov and Andrey Kalina will fight for the medals.

Among the athletes with visual impairments - 2020 Games champions Daria Pikalova, Vladimir Sotnikov and Ilnur Garipov.

The team consists of 16 champions of the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

The athletes will compete in individual heats and relay races on distances from 50 to 400 meters in the disciplines: freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and medley swimming.

As part of the Cup meetings between the heads of the National Paralympic Committee of Russia and Belarus are scheduled, which will address issues of interaction and cooperation in the development of adaptive sports.
