RUSSIAN AND BELARUSIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEES SIGNED AN AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION

08 July 2022
MOSCOW, July 8. /TASS/. The National Paralympic Committees of Russia and Belarus have signed an agreement on cooperation in the sphere of Paralympic sport development. This was announced by President of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov to TASS on Friday.

The meeting of the heads of the committees took place within the framework of the Open Para Swimming Cup of Belarus in Brest taking place from July 5 to 10. Athletes with physical and visual impairments take part in the competition.

"Today in Brest within the frames of the Open Para Swimming Cup of the Republic of Belarus we have signed the agreement on cooperation between the National Paralympic Committees of Russia and Belarus. It will strengthen bilateral cooperation, friendly relations and will further expand our opportunities for the development of Paralympic movement in both states," said Rozhkov.

"In the conditions of Western countries' sanctions pressure on Russian and Belarusian sport, the main thing is to keep sport skills, international competitive experience and to establish interaction with international sport federations, which cooperate with us. Russia and Belarus have strong Paralympic teams in swimming, athletics, cross-country skiing and biathlon. The agreement we signed today will help athletes from both countries not only to remain leaders in these sports, but also to improve results in other sports," he added.

The Russian team at the Open Para Swimming Cup in Brest is represented by 94 athletes.
