ROZHKOV: THE PARAFEST FESTIVAL IS A SHOWCASE FOR THE RUSSIAN NATIONAL PARALYMPIC TEAM
MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. The Russian Paralympic Committee considers the Paralympic athletes festival "Parafest" as a platform for reviewing and selecting candidates for the next reserve of the national teams. RPC President Pavel Rozhkov told TASS on Thursday.
"Parafest Paralympic Sports Festival is a real sports festival that is held traditionally and is important for the development of the Paralympic movement in the regions and in Russia as a whole. The RPC considers it as a platform for watching and selecting candidates for the nearest reserve of our national teams," - said Rozhkov.
"The competition on the sports grounds was strong and competitive. Athletes showed their best qualities - real courage, perseverance, willpower and showed decent results. I hope that we will see them soon at championships of Russia and in national teams. Practice shows that many of our great champions started their sporting journey with the Spartakiades and sports festivals "- he added.
The "Parafest" festival was held from May 23 to 26 in Ramenskoe, Moscow Region. The sports program included four disciplines: darts, badminton, wheelchair dance and swimming. Athletes with locomotor apparatus disorders took part in the festival. About 275 participants from 18 regions of the country took part in "Parafest - 2022", and about 100 sets of medals were drawn.
