ROZHKOV: RUSSIANS HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A CLEAR EXPLANATION FOR NOT BEING ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2016 PARALYMPIC GAMES

MOSCOW, May 13. /TASS/. Six years after their suspension from participation in the 2016 Games in Brazil, Russian Paralympians have not yet received any documentary evidence from the International Paralympic Committee that their ineligibility for the main start of the four years period is justified. Pavel Rozhkov, president of the Russian Paralympic Committee, said this at the Russian Anti-Doping Agency's conference "Anti-Doping: Focus on Athletes' Health" on Friday.
"The Russian Paralympic Committee was suspended back in 2016 from participating in the Paralympic Games," Rozhkov recalled. - It was meant then that our athletes were participants in the state doping program. Six years have passed since then, and there is still no official evidence either to the Russian Paralympic Committee or to any specific athletes. We were the first to be subjected to political sanctions, which were planned long before today.
The Rio de Janeiro Paralympics were held from September 7 to 18, 2016. Russian Paralympians also lost the opportunity to compete in March 2022 at the Paralympics in Beijing because of the situation in Ukraine.
