President of the RPC P.A. Rozhkov met in Moscow with Paralympic champions from different generations as part of the celebratory events marking the 30th anniversary of the RPC
On May 22 in Moscow, as part of the celebratory events marking the 30th anniversary of the Russian Paralympic Committee, a meeting was held between the President of the Russian Paralympic Committee and champions and medalists of the Paralympic Games.
More than 100 Paralympic Games winners from all over the country gathered in Moscow – representatives of different generations of Russian Paralympic sport – who forged victories from 1988 to 2026.
Among the meeting participants were Rima Batalova, Valery Kupchinsky, Sergey Shilov, Kirill Mikhailov, Alexey Moshkin, Tamara Duong (Pankova), Boris Bogdanov, Nadezhda Chirkova, Anna Milenina (Burmistrova), Roman Petushkov, Alexey Ashapatov, Oksana Savchenko, Andrey Strokin, Olga Semenova, Andrey Kalina, Valeria Shabalina, Anastasia Bagiyan, and other titled athletes.
During the meeting, participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the athletes and coaches who contributed to the formation of the country's Paralympic movement.
The President of the RPC noted that it was the veterans of the Paralympic movement who laid the foundation for the national team's future victories.
Addressing them, the head of the RPC emphasized:
"I am very glad to see you in good health. With your victories began the progressive development of the country's Paralympic movement, and your achievements inspired many who are also with us here in the hall today and are forging new victories for the glory of Russian sport."
During the meeting, a celebration of jubilee anniversaries took place. Pavel Rozhkov presented letters of gratitude for their contribution to the development of the Paralympic movement to veterans of the sports movement: Paralympic champion in blind swimming Olga Sokolova, three-time Paralympic champion in blind athletics Tamara Duong, Paralympic champion in cross-country skiing Irina Polyakova, as well as nine-time Paralympic champion in cross-country skiing Valery Kupchinsky.
A ceremony for presenting state awards of the Russian Federation also took place during the meeting. The Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland," 1st class, was awarded to Denis Babak, senior coach of Rostov Paralympic Adaptive Sports School No. 27, and the Order of Friendship was awarded to Mikhail Petrik, coach-instructor of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Center for Sports Training in Adaptive Sports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all participants were presented with commemorative souvenirs and jubilee medals "30 Years of the RPC."
After a group photograph, the athletes headed to the State Kremlin Palace to participate in the jubilee award ceremony of the Russian Paralympic Committee's "Return to Life" prize.
