PAVEL ROZHKOV TOOK PART IN THE MEETING OF THE IWAS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IN TEHRAN (IRAN)
On 7 May the President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, Vice-President of the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) Pavel Rozhkov took part in Tehran (Iran) in the meeting of the IWAS Executive Committee.
The meeting of the Executive committee takes place from 7 to 8 May in the Academy of the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees of Iran under the direction of Rudi van den Abbeele, the IWAS president, in mixed mode - with participation in person and by videoconference.
At the meeting questions about membership in the IWAS, changes in the IWAS governing system, financial activity, regional policy, development of sports under the IWAS aegis and conduction of sports competitions and participation of Russian athletes in them were discussed.
Pavel Rozhkov has informed members of Executive committee on carrying out in Khanty-Mansiysk from March, 18 till March, 21st Winter Paralympic Games "We are together. Sport", in which teams from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan took part. The Head of the RPC announced that in October 2022 in Sochi (Krasnodar Territory) will be held the Summer Paralympic Games "We are together. Sport" and invited members of the Executive Committee and member organizations of the IWAS.
After the session members of the Executive Committee got acquainted with the sports objects of the Academy: the track and field stadium and the arena, the swimming pool, the gyms, the premises for educational programs and the advanced medical examination and the hotel.
Next, members of the IWAS Executive Committee visited the Iranian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the Museum of Sport.
The head of the RPC said that the museum is one of the largest in the world. Its vast territory contains exhibits that fully disclose the history of Olympic and Paralympic sport in the world and Iran.
In the course of the visit the IWAS leadership met with Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President of the Iranian National Paralympic Committee, during which they discussed the IWAS activities and the interaction between the IWAS and the Iranian National Committee.
The individual meeting of the Russian and Iranian National Paralympic Committees leaders will take place on May 9.
Then in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Iran members of the Executive Committee had a meeting with the head of the sports department Seyyed Hamid Sajjadi Hezavev.
Pavel Rozhkov in a personal conversation with the head of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Iran discussed issues of interaction and cooperation on the organization of athletes' participation in joint training events and competitions held on the territories of the Russian Federation and Iran.
