PAVEL ROZHKOV HELD A MEETING OF THE GOVERNING BOARD OF THE RUSSIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE

On 17 December in the office of the Russian Paralympic Committee Chairman of the Governing Board and First Vice-President of the RPC Pavel Rozhkov held a meeting of the Governing Board of the Russian Paralympic Committee.

The meeting was held in a mixed format - in video conference mode and in person.

Pavel Rozhkov informed the Governing Board members about the General Assembly of the International Paralympic Committee, which was held on 11 and 12 December by videoconference.

It was the first time the Russian language was included into the list of the IPC General Assembly working languages. The Assembly was attended by representatives of 156 member organizations from 199 countries, which approved a new version of the IPC Constitution, reviewed the development of the Paralympic movement, the Paralympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing, summarized the results of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, and elected the President, Vice-President and members of the IPC Executive Committee.

Andrew Parson was re-elected to his second four-year term as president of the IPC and Dwayne Kale was re-elected as vice-president. Ten members of the Executive Committee were also elected.

The RPC Deputy Chief of Staff, Artem Toropchin, reported on the activities undertaken by the Russian Paralympic Committee during the International Decade of People with Disabilities in 2022.

On the official page of the RPC in VKontakte a Paralympic lesson was held, which was attended by more than 130,000 people, after which the online quiz on the RPC website was held. Of the 925 quiz participants, 10 winners were selected who answered the largest number of questions correctly in the shortest amount of time. They received memorable prizes from RPC and Forward Company. The event received wide information support, press release was placed in more than 40 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Within the framework of the meeting RPC Secretary General and 5 times Paralympic champion Andrey Strokin told about the results of inspection visit of the working group on preparation and holding of the IWAS World Games 2022 in Sochi to the sports venues of the Games.

The inspection visit took place from December 13 to 15. Working group visited and inspected the competition venues, accommodation, medical care, classification, tested the accessibility of facilities used during the Games for people with disabilities, etc.

During the two-day visit the working group visited the hotel complex and sports facilities of FGBU Yug-sport in Sochi, Yunost sports complex, Sputnik, Grand Hotel Polyana, Azimut Freestyle Rosa Khutor, Tulip Inn and Golden Tulip hotels, etc.

Working meetings were held with representatives of "Svod International", "Gazprom", the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Krasnodar Region, the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Sochi Administration, the Legal Department of Sochi City Administration and the Department of Coordination of Medical Care in the Municipality of Sochi city-resort.

The issues discussed at the meetings included competition venues, spectator areas, classification and doping control areas. In addition, the topics concerning medical support of the World Games, including taking PCR tests, were brought up.

At the meeting were approved the plan, main activities and programs of the Russian Paralympic Committee for 2022, reviewed the current activities of the RPC, etc.

In the meeting of RPC Governing Board took part Secretary of the Presidential Council on development of physical culture and sport Alexey Kulakovsky, Director of Department of physical culture and mass sport of the Ministry of sport of Russia Maksim Urazov, Vice-President of the RPC, President of Blind Sport Federation Lydia Abramova, Vice-President of the RPC, President of All-Russian Federation of sport for persons with intellectual disabilities Sergey Evseev, Vice-President of the RPC, 3-time champion of Paralympic games Olga Semenova, member of RPC Governing Board, Irina Kalyanova, RPC Governing Board, 2-time Paralympic bronze medalist, RPC Governing Board - Nadezhda Bannikova, Vladimir Bardyshev, Vyacheslav Bocharov, Alexander Ivonin, Marina Kascheeva, Alexey Kolesnikov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Regional Branch of the RPC Andrey Novikov and others.
