OLEG MATYTSIN: "THE GAMES "WE ARE TOGETHER. SPORT" BECAME A GREAT INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY OF ADAPTIVE SPORTS".

22 March 2022
The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin thanked the participants, organizers and guests of the Winter Paralympic Games "We are together. Sport".

"I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Ugra for hospitality, to the foreign teams - for their participation and support, to the Russian Paralympic Committee and all Russian athletes. You are the pride of our country and the proof of that is the medals won in the fair competition.

The Games "We are together. Sport" is the great international celebration of the adaptive sport, which united the best Paralympians from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

Khanty-Mansiysk has a great experience in holding big competitions. The Games became a great stage for getting acquainted with the Ugra peoples culture and sharing the international experience.

I am sure the Games left a special place in the hearts of athletes, spectators and organizers," said Oleg Matytsin.

The All-Russian open competitions "Winter Paralympic Games "We are together. Sport" took place in Khanty-Mansiysk on March, 18-20.

Athletes from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan took part in the Games. Medals in cross-country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing, snowboard, wheelchair curling and sledge hockey were won. The Russian Paralympians have won 106 medals: 39 gold, 40 silver and 27 bronze. The Belarusian team won 16 medals: 5 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze. One "gold" is an asset of the Armenian team.

The decision to hold the Winter Paralympic Games "We are together. Sport" was taken due to the unjustified exclusion of the Russian national team from the XIII Paralympic Winter Games in 2022 in Beijing, so the athletes had the opportunity to compete and show the results, for which they were preparing four years.
