MORE THAN 200 ATHLETES WILL TAKE PART IN THE RUSSIAN WHEELCHAIR DANCING CHAMPIONSHIP IN ST. PETERSBURG

On May 6-8 in Saint-Petersburg Russian Para Wheelchair Dancing Championship will be held.

More than 200 athletes from 18 regions of the country will dance on the dance floor of the Russian Championship.

On May 6 at 14:00 there will be an official opening ceremony of the Russian Championship - the traditional parade of participants, colorful performances of the Russian wheelchair dancers and greetings from the officials.

During three days there will be held the competitions in all disciplines of wheelchair dancing of the All-Russian Registry of Sports - competition in European, Latin American and free programs among combi pairs (one partner dances on his feet, the other one in the wheelchair), competitions in European and Latin American programs for duos (both partners dance in the wheelchair), in general and free programs for men and women in the single discipline. In total, the athletes will compete for 18 sets of awards in the official disciplines, and on the parquet will meet both dancers with titles and debutants.

The championship program also includes competitions in emerging disciplines - a duet competition in the free program and junior tournament in the general and free programs. Outside the official competition, in order to popularize wheelchair dancing will be held among young dancers, children 7-12 years old will compete for their first awards in the general and free programs.

Traditionally, unofficial competition will be decorated by the performances of ensembles of wheelchair dancers.

The program of the national championship this year is very busy, these days in St. Petersburg is met not only athletes, but also participants in the All-Russian Wheelchair Dance Seminar Sports Classifiers, whose training will be held by the Paralympic Committee of Russia.
