Meeting of the Executive Board of the Russian Paralympic Committee was held via video conference

Chairman of the Executive Committee, First Vice-President of the RPC, Head of the RPC Working Group on the implementation of the IPC criteria, acting after membership of the RPC Pavel Rozhkov reported on the implementation of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the case of WADA against RUSADA of December 17, 2020 and the Revised post-reinstatement criteria of the IPC of 8 February 2021.

When discussing this issue, the names of the Paralympic teams of Russia were approved: in English "RPC", in English "RPC", the emblem of the Paralympic teams of Russia in the form of a combination of the Paralympic symbol "Agitos" with three flames painted in white, blue and red, flag of the Russian Paralympic team. These materials will be used by the International Paralympic Committee for approval.

Then the chief of the mission of the Russian national team at the XVI Paralympic Summer Games in Tokyo (Japan) Pavel Rozhkov made a report on the preparation of the Russian national teams for participation in the XVI Paralympic Games. Organizational issues of participation, an expanded list of candidates for the Russian Paralympic delegation for the Tokyo 2020 Games, procedures and principles of selection for the national team, etc. were considered.

 

In his speech, Pavel Rozhkov noted:

“Since January 2021, the Russian Paralympic Committee has taken part in a number of meetings with the IPC and Tokyo 2020 to prepare for the upcoming Games. They were devoted to measures to combat coronavirus at the Games, the status of participation of Russian athletes in accordance with the CAS decision, the coordination of equipment sketches, communication, marketing and advertising issues.

In February 2021, the IOC and IPC released playbooks for international federations, sports delegations from participating countries and media representatives. Among the main requirements of the playbooks are testing for COVID-19 72 hours before departure to Tokyo and every 4 days during the games, arrival in the Paralympic Village 5-7 days before the first day of the competition, and departure within 48 hours after completing performance at the Games. A ban on holding events outside of official facilities, using public transport, the need to observe social distance, etc.

In July-August, we will hold a series of information seminars for all Russian Paralympic teams on anti-doping support at the Games, the climatic and geographical features of Tokyo and measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Currently, Russian athletes have won 136 quotas for participation in Paralympic Games 2020, which corresponds to 174 athletes in 13 sports. It is planned that Russian athletes will take part in 19 sports out of 22. The composition of the Russian Paralympic Delegation can be up to 470 people, incl. up to 270 athletes.

The approval of the Russian Paralympic team for the XVI Paralympic Summer Games in Tokyo (Japan) is planned by the RPC Executive Committee until August 2, 2021”.


During the meeting, the issues of holding the final events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Russian Paralympic Committee in Belgorod were considered.

Events are scheduled for the period from 14 to 16 May 2021. In these terms, the following will take place: a meeting of the RPC Executive Committee; scientific and practical conference on the development of adaptive sports with the participation of leading Russian specialists; All-Russian summer sports contest for disabled children with physical Impairments; workshops and Paralympic lessons for children with disabilities with the participation of champions and prize-winners of the Paralympic Games; press conference dedicated to 100 days before the start of the XVI Paralympic Summer Games in Tokyo.

When considering the issue of nominating a candidate from the RPC for elections to the IPC Athletes Council, the members of the Executive Committee decided to approve the candidacy of the 2-time silver, 2-time bronze medalist of the world championships, a captain of the Russian national table tennis team in the sport of persons with physical impairments Yuri Nozdrunov.

The meeting was attended by the General Secretary of the RPC, the President of the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments, 5-time Paralympic champion Andrei Strokin, Vice-President of the RPC, President of the Sports Federation of the Blind Lidia Abramova, Vice-President of the RPC, President of the All-Russian Sports Federation for Persons with intellectual disabilities Sergey Evseev, members of the RPC Executive Committee - Vladimir Bardyshev, Nadezhda Bannikova, Vladimir Pruglo, Alexey Kolesnikov, Alexander Ivonin, Vyacheslav Bocharov, Gennady Dementyev, Marina Kashcheeva, Leonid Zhestyannikov, Evgeny Emelyanov, Alexander Ivonin, Igor Medvedev, Deputy Head of the Department internal and personnel policy of the Belgorod region - Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Belgorod Region Natalya Zhigalova, Vice President of the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments, 3-time Paralympic champion Olga Semenova, Deputy Head of the RPC Staff Artem Toropchin, and others.
