FONBET DONATED MORE THAN 54 MILLION RUBLES TO RUSSIAN PARALYMPIANS
28 July 2022
On July 28th, the agreement between the Russian Paralympic Committee and the betting company Fonbet was signed for the transfer of more than 54 million rubles to members of the Russian Paralympic team. Thus, Fonbet supported our national team after its exclusion from the Paralympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing.
The signing took place at the CSKA's Malaya Sports Arena during a charity All-Star Game attended by Olympic champions, athletes from the KHL and NHL, and the Russian Paralympic Sledge-Hockey Team. Ambassador of Fonbet and the gala match, Stanley Cup winner and three-time world champion Alexander Ovechkin took part in the ceremony of handing over of the symbolic check.
Nikita Ivanov, Fonbet's Vice President for Social Initiatives:
- We decided to help those athletes who especially need attention. The task of our charity projects is to show that sport can be accessible for everyone. It is important to make people with disabilities understand that sport will always help them to reach high goals.
The Russian Paralympic Team is one of the strongest in the world. This was evidenced by the brilliant victories in the final qualifying competitions, championships and World Cups in the run-up to the Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing. At the World Championships in winter sports, which took place in the city of Lillehammer a month before the Games, Russian athletes have won 22 gold, 23 silver, 22 bronze medals and took the top step of the podium in the overall standings.
Pavel Rozhkov, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee:
- On behalf of the entire Paralympic family I would like to express my gratitude to the Fonbet bookmaker company for its support of the Russian Paralympic winter sports team.
In March this year the International Paralympic Committee suspended the Russian national team from the Beijing Paralympic Games. It was a real shock for every athlete. The news of the suspension was perceived by them with deep bitterness. The Paralympians were well prepared for the Games, energized and determined to do their best.
The Paralympic Committee signed an Agreement with Fonbet on rendering charitable assistance to the amount of over 54 million rubles. All members of the suspended Russian Paralympic team: athletes, coaches and specialists, directly involved in the preparation of athletes with disabilities for the Beijing Games, will receive additional financial rewards. This help for athletes with physical disabilities is worthy of the utmost respect. I express my hope that our cooperation with Fonbet will continue to be as fruitful and effective in the future.
Alina Yakirevich, Marketing Director of Fonbet:
- Fonbet has always supported and continues to support Russian sports. As part of our social responsibility program, we pay special attention to those who need our attention the most - people with disabilities.
Alexander Ovechkin has been Fonbet's Ambassador for almost a year and, according to him, "when choosing a partner it was important for the company to support sports and social projects.
