Athletes from Belarus, Armenia and Tajikistan will participate in Paralympic Winter Games "We are together. Sport"
From March 18 till March 21 in Khanty-Mansiysk the open All-Russian sports competitions "Winter Paralympic Games "We are together. Sport" will be held. Cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowboard, alpine skiing, wheelchair curling and sledge hockey competitions will be held during the Games, stipulated by the program of the XIII Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing (China).
The event will be attended by members of the Russian Paralympic team, who were suspended from the Games in Beijing. Athletes included in the list of candidates for the Russian national teams will be able to perform in sledge hockey and wheelchair curling. Athletes from the Republic of Belarus, Armenia and Tajikistan will also take part in the Games. Belarusian athletes will compete in cross-country skiing and biathlon, Tajik athletes - in skiing and alpine skiing, Armenian athletes - in snowboard and sledge hockey.
The competitors start arriving to the capital of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra.
So, today, on March 14, the delegation of the Belarusian athletes and coaches were solemnly welcomed at the airport of Khanty-Mansiysk. The guests were met by the performance of the theater of Ob-Ugric peoples "Sun", folk songs and traditional treats - cranberry and pine nuts.
"These games were not just a rescue for us, but an extension of our sports life," said Svetlana Sakhonenko, a Belarusian three-time Paralympic cross-country skiing champion and bronze medalist in biathlon at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.
The opening ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games "We are together. Sport" will take place in the "Yugra Mega Sport" Ice Palace on March 18. Cross-country skiing and biathlon competitions will take place in the A.V. Filipenko Winter Sports Center, alpine skiing and snowboarding - in the "Khvonyi Urman" Alpine Skiing Complex, wheelchair curling - on the ice of the "Arena-Ugra", and sledge hockey - in the "Ugra Mega Sport" Ice Palace.
