In Sochi, at the Iceberg training arena, the opening ceremony of the III Continent Sledge Hockey Cup took place.
Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, Secretary General of the Russian Paralympic Committee, 5-time Paralympic champion Andrey Strokin, President of the Russian Hockey Federation, 3-time Olympic hockey champion Vladislav Tretyak and President of the Continental Hockey League Alexey Morozov greeted the participants and organizers of the competition, after what Alexey Morozov declared the competition open.
Then the guests of honor had a symbolic throw-in of the puck for the opening match.
In the opening match teams Russia 1 and the national team of Slovakia met. Team Russia 1 won with a score of 5: 0.
The morning game between the teams Russia 2 and the national team of Kazakhstan ended with a score of 24: 0 in favor of the Russian team.
Group stage matches are held from 1 to 3 June. On June 5, the match for the third place and the final will take place.
On June 2, on the second day of competition, at 13:00 a match between the national teams of Kazakhstan and Slovakia will take place. The teams Russia 1 and Russia 2 will meet at 17:00.
