A.A. STROKIN ONLINE TAKES PART IN A ROUND TABLE ON THE TOPIC: "SLAVERY AND BULLING: WHY RUSSIANS CANNOT FEEL SAFE", held by the PUBLIC CHAMBER of the Russian Federation

The General Secretary of the Russian Paralympic Committee, 5-time Paralympic champion Andrei Strokin took part in an online roundtable on the topic: "Libel and Bullying: Why Russians Cannot Feel Safe", held by the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
The moderator of the round table was Grigory Zaslavsky, the first deputy chairman of the RF Civil Society Commission on the development of culture and preservation of spiritual heritage, rector of the Russian Institute of Theater Arts - GITIS.
With the development of the Internet, not only the line between private and public life is becoming more and more fragile, but previously existing phenomena are acquiring new features. Recently, such forms of information aggression as slander and bullying (bullying) have been growing.
The dissemination of deliberately false information about someone, accompanied by ridicule and bullying on the Internet, is a threat to a person's reputation, relationships with loved ones, and career. As social online platforms penetrate into our lives with their illusion of anonymity, cases of infringement on privacy, reputation and good name of citizens, it is necessary to develop legal and other mechanisms that provide adequate protection of the individual.
Numerous cases indicate that the problem exists at the junction of the online and offline worlds, which are sometimes difficult to separate. The participants of the round table will share their own experience and vision of the situation, discuss expert proposals on the implementation of adequate methods of countering libel and bullying on the Internet.
Andrey Strokin spoke with information about the legal vulnerability of athletes and para-athletes to defamation and bullying.
