4 REPRESENTATIVES FROM RUSSIA BECAME MEMBERS OF THE IWAS WHEELCHAIR FENCING COMMISSIONS

IWAS Executive Committee approved the members of the Commissions which contribute to the development and management of the sport.
The Executive Committee held its first face-to-face meeting in two years in Budapest, Hungary, on December 18.
The commissions consisted of 12 former or current athletes, and there was also an increase in the representation of women on many of the commissions.
Elena Belkina, coach of the Russian wheelchair fencing team and president of the Russian Paralympic Fencing Federation, was included in the development commission.
Elizaveta Biletskaya was included into the Medical Advisory Committee.
Alexander Ibragimov, Legal Advisor of the Anti-Doping, Medical and Scientific-Methodological Support Department of the RPC Staff, was included in the Promotion Committee.
Ksenia Ovsyannikova, three-time world champion in wheelchair fencing, is a representative of Russia in the Committee on Gender Equality and in the Athletes Council.
Members of the Executive Committee also discussed changes to the rules and format of the competitions, which were sent to the new commissions for consideration.
Next year there will be five World Cups and regional championships in Asia, America and Europe. The season will open with the World Cup in Pisa, Italy, March 17-20. The first regional championship will be the Asian Championships, held in Hangzhou, China, from Oct. 15-22.
