RUSSIAN WHEELCHAIR RUGBY TEAM TOOK THE 5TH PLACE IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS IN POLLAND
The Metro Cup in wheelchair rugby took place in Warsaw, Poland this past week (July 1st-7th).
8 teams participated in the event.
Russians took 3rd place in the group stage, beating Swedes 46 to 34, however losing to Brazil in a close battle by one point (47:48) and letting Germans take first place in their group (39:52).Nevertheless, the Russian team defeated Netherlands, 49 to 41, which allowed them to compete for 5th place and beat the home-team (51:45).
France became champions of The Poland Open, followed by Germany in the 2nd place.
The bronze went to rugby players from Denmark.
The Russian roster was as follows:
