WADA'S PRESS RELEASE: UPDATED INFORMATION ON WADA'S MISSION ON DATA RECOVERY FROM THE MOSCOW LABORATORY

The team arrived in Moscow on December 17 and was assigned to access the Laboratory Management Information System (LIMS) and basic data from the former Moscow Laboratory in accordance with the terms of the September 20 WADA Executive Committee decision, which restored RUSADА status as compliant with the WADA Code.

 The team gained access to the laboratory, and progress was made with the Russian authorities regarding the extraction and export of data outside of Russia. However, the team was not able to complete its mission within the prescribed period due to a problem pointed out by the Russian authorities, namely, the equipment of the team that will be used to extract the data had to be certified in accordance with Russian legislation.

This question was not raised during the first meeting on November 28 in Moscow, after which WADA sent its group of experts to Moscow to obtain data.

 In accordance with the process outlined by the WADA Executive Board in September, Dr. Pascual will prepare his official mission report and, as planned, the report will be sent to the independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC). The Committee will meet on January 14-15, 2019, when the status of compliance of the RUSADA Code will be reconsidered, and then the recommendation of the Committee will be reviewed by the Executive Committee.

 At the same time, in the light of the progress achieved - and the importance of obtaining these data to clarify information on the involvement of athletes or restore the reputation of athletes - the WADA expert team is ready to begin full data extraction if Russia quickly resolves this issue.
