18 March 2018

According to Andrew Parsons, it was very difficult for the Russian Paralympic athletes to perform in neutral status at the Games in Pyeongchang

Pyeongchang / South Korea /, 18 March. / TASS /. Russian athletes performing in the status of neutral paralympic athletes showed an amazing spirit in the hardest conditions for themselves at the Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang. This opinion was expressed at the press briefing by the president of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Andrew Parsons.

"I think they showed an amazing spirit, it's really hard when you cannot represent your country, when you win a medal, but you cannot fulfill your national anthem, but of course it's a long story," Parsons said.

Also, the head of the IPC noted that during the Paralympic Games Russians did not have any conflict situations with anyone. "I think that in the circumstances they behave very well, but other countries behave well towards them." I asked our people in the village, they do not know about any problems or complaints from the delegation of neutral Paralympic athletes or in relation to them, it is a positive sign, it shows maturity, I am very pleased, "- added the president of the IPC.

The Paralympic Committee of Russia (RCC) is suspended from the memberships in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), at the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Games, Russians performed under a neutral flag and in a reduced team’s composition.
