Pavel Rozhkov: Russian para lifters will compete at World Cup for the first time since 2016
For the first time since 2016, Russians para lifters will take part in the Para Powerlifting World Cup under the auspices of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), which will be the qualification competition for Tokyo Paralympic Games. TASS was informed on Friday by the First Vice-president of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov.
The powerlifting tournament will be held April 25-28, 2019 in Eger (Hungary).
Pavel Rozhkov, head of RPC Working Group on preparation for 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games:
“For the first time since 2016, the Russian national para powerlifting team will participate in the official international tournament held by the IPC. This will allow them to fulfill the necessary qualification standards for participation in the World Championship to be held in Nur-Sultan from July 13 to 19, and the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The results of the our athletes will be included in the official world ranking. At the moment, the IPC and RPC are agreeing on the list of participants
All athletes who will be included in the list of the national team, must fully meet the post reinstatement criteria, including passing the required number of anti-doping tests.

In the entire history of the participation of the Russian national powerlifting team in the Paralympic Games, they won two gold, seven silver and bronze medals. There will be 20 medal events (10 for men and women) in para powerlifting at 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.“All athletes and personnel passed training seminars implemented as part of the anti-doping educational program of RPC anti-doping programme. In addition, coaches and specialists of the national team received distance education on the educational program RUSADA Triagonal,”
