1st Stage of Russian Para Badminton Cup finished in Novocheboksarsk.

From 17 to 22 February, 2019, in Novocheboksarsk, Chuvash Republic, the first stage of the Russian Para-Badminton Cup was held.

More than 60 athletes took part in the competitions representing 15 regions of the Russian Federation St. Petersburg, the Republics of Tatarstan and Chuvashia, Primorsky, Perm, Zabaykalsky, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Moscow, Samara, Saratov, Arkhangelsk, Kostroma, Ulyanovsk and Pskov regions.

There were 18 medal events including 11 Paralympic events.

The largest number of medals were traditionally won by the teams from St. Petersburg and the Chuvash Republic.

In addition, the program of para-badminton methodical workshops for regional coaches, based on the corresponding program of the European Confederation of Badminton, was launched. The program is implemented for the second year in a row by coaches of the national team in the framework of All-Russian competitions for the development of para-badminton in the regions. The next stage of the program will be held in June at the Russian Championship.

Also during the competition, a general meeting of representatives and coaches of teams of regions of the Russian Federation together with the head coach of the Russian national team Dmitry Varfolomeyev was held. At the meeting, the main areas of activity in 2019 were discussed, incl. in terms of improving regional para-badminton development systems.

Stage 2 of the Russian Cup will be held in September in Stavropol, the final stage in December in the Kazan.
