The RPC, with the participation of Paralympic champions and medallists, held a Paralympic lesson for child patients at the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology in Moscow
On 5 June, the Russian Paralympic Committee held a Paralympic lesson for young patients of the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, timed to coincide with International Children's Day.
The event was held in Moscow with the support of the Children's Dr Roshal Foundation. It was attended by Pavel Rozhkov, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, Alexander Bryantsev, Director of the Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation, Candidate of Medical Sciences, and Svetlana Valiullina, Director of the Children's Dr Roshal Foundation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.
Paralympic athletes, including champions and medallists of the Paralympic Games, young athletes, as well as experienced mentors - coaches of the Russian national teams - came to visit the children undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
In the courtyard of the medical centre, the RPC set up a platform for the theoretical part of the event and a video film about the history of the Paralympic movement, as well as sports equipment for master classes.
During the event, Pavel Rozhkov, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, told the participants about the history of the Russian and world Paralympic movement.
The children were able to take part in master classes in six sports - cycling, wheelchair fencing, football, archery, table tennis and wheelchair curling.
Traditionally, all children received gifts from the Russian Paralympic Committee and commemorative medals for participation in the masterclasses, and the most active children who correctly answered the quiz questions received special prizes.
The patients who could not take part in the sports festival were not ignored. Guests of honour and Paralympic athletes visited the wards where children with severe injuries are staying. The children and teenagers enjoyed chatting with the guests and were not left without memorable gifts.
