Russian Paralympic Committee Conducts Training for Coaches and Specialists from Sverdlovsk Region under the Advanced Training Program "Fundamentals of Sport-Functional Classification in Adaptive Sports"
From April 12–14, 2026, in Yekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk Region), the Russian Paralympic Committee conducted training for 20 coaches and specialists from the Sverdlovsk Region under the additional professional advanced training program "Fundamentals of Sport-Functional Classification" (hereinafter referred to as the Advanced Training Program).
The Advanced Training Program focused on a key feature of adaptive sports — sport-functional classification. The classification of athletes with disabilities allows them to be assigned to sport classes according to their functional abilities and ensures fair competition conditions in adaptive sports.
The training was led by Guzel Idrisova, Head of the Scientific, Methodological, Medical and Anti-Doping Support Department of the Russian Paralympic Committee Apparatus, Chief Classifier of the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments, International Classifier, and Candidate of Medical Sciences.
The sessions were held at the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education "Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin."
During practical sessions, participants of the Russian Paralympic Committee advanced training courses became familiar with physical assessment tests for athletes with various types of impairments eligible in Paralympic sports, the specifics of technical assessment of athletes according to different sports, and reviewed sport class profiles and the classification procedures in Paralympic athletics and Paralympic table tennis.
Upon completion of the training, participants received standard certificates of advanced training.
The Russian Paralympic Committee plans to conduct further training under the advanced training program "Sport-Functional Classification" in various adaptive sports disciplines. Training will be conducted as groups are formed: https://edu.paralymp.ru/applicants/directions_specialty_exams/
