PAVEL ROZHKOV TOOK PART IN THE ALL-RUSSIAN CLEAN SPORT FORUM HELD BY RUSADA

01 December 2022

On December 1, at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the opening ceremony of the first All-Russian Clean Sport Forum, held by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency RUSADA, took place.

State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Andrey Fedorov, General Director of RUSADA Veronika Loginova, President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov, Ambassador-at-Large, Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for International Sports Cooperation Mikhail Khorev, Rector of the Russian International Olympic University Lev Belousov and President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov welcomed the participants of the Forum.

The head of the RPC in his speech noted:

“On behalf of the Russian Paralympic Committee, I welcome all participants of the All-Russian Forum of Clean Sport! The RUSADA Clean Sport Forum is undoubtedly the largest platform for discussing problematic issues and making constructive decisions in the field of anti-doping. It is gratifying that this Forum is being held within the walls of MGIMO, one of the leading universities in the country. RPC has long-standing good relations with MGIMO. In 2017, thanks to the Olympians Support Fund, specialists from the RPC staff completed a refresher course at MGIMO and gained unique knowledge in the field of international relations in sports.

Today, the Forum brought together specialists and experts in the field of doping control - representatives of both the sports industry and medicine. The Forum program also pays a lot of attention to improving the legal issues of anti-doping support, which we consider very important in today's reality.

Despite the current geopolitical situation, the suspension of a number of sports Federations, as well as the recent suspension of the RPC's membership in the IPC, the anti-doping work of the RPC continues.

Currently, there are 340 Paralympic athletes in the testing pools of RUSADA, the IPC and international federations. All of them enter information about their whereabouts into ADAMS, they continue to be tested regularly. Our experts advise them on all emerging issues. Together with RUSADA, back in 2017, we developed the Educational Anti-Doping Program, which has been successfully implemented over the past 5 years.

During this time, about 3,000 athletes and coaches of the Russian national teams, as well as participants of the Championships, Cups, and Russian Junior Championships in Paralympic sports, have been educated at anti-doping seminars by the RPC.

The RPC was the first organization to educate its lectors in the field of anti-doping with the help of RUSADA. Another RPC lectors training seminar is scheduled for December this year.

Today we continue to implement our educational program in all areas, and RUSADA specialists are actively helping us in this.

I would like to thank RUSADA and Agency Director Veronika Viktorovna Loginova for their constant assistance to the RPC, for their active work in the field of informing athletes and athletes' personnel about anti-doping rules, especially for the work carried out in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

It has become a tradition to hold outreach quizzes and anti-doping seminars for young athletes together with RUSADA, lectures for their parents as part of the All-Russian Forums for the Development of the Paralympic Movement, which the RPC holds in various regions of the Russian Federation.

We are now paying great attention to work on anti-doping education of young athletes. We believe that it is very important to educate children in the ideals of pure sport from the first steps in the Paralympic movement. This will, first of all, preserve their health, as well as avoid unintentional anti-doping rule violations.

I wish all participants of the Forum fruitful work, exchange of experience and best practices in the field of anti-doping, as well as interesting discussions!”. The All-Russian Forum of Clean Sport is a platform for a productive discussion of issues, a search for solutions to urgent problems, as well as a platform for the exchange of experience, opinions and best practices at the national and international level.
