The Russian National Goalball Team took the fifth place at the European Championship in Germany.

In Rostock (Germany) from October 8 to 13, the European Championship in Goalball was held.

According to the results of the competition, the Russian Women’s Team took the fifth place.

At the group stage of the tournament, Russian athletes won against Denmark (14:4), Ukraine (10:6) and Finland (11:5) but lost to the National Team of Greece (7:5) and entered the competition play – off.

In the quarter finals our athletes lost to the UK National Team (6:2), then defeated Finland (10:0) and in the fifth – place match they beat Ukraine (9-2).

The National Team of Turkey defeated the National Team of Israel (8:6) and became the European champions.

In the bronze medal match, the German National Team defeated the United Kingdom (8:2).

The best striker of the tournament became the Turkish athlete Sevda Altundoluk, 32 goals were scored on her account. In the Russian National Team, the most effective player was Irina Arestova, who brought the team 30 points.
